ALBUM
Vidas (2007)
Vidas presents an intimate and thoughtful collection of songs by Venezuelan-Canadian singer-songwriter Eliana Cuevas. Her expressive voice and poetic lyrics are supported by a refined ensemble of acoustic musicians, creating a sound that blends Latin American roots with jazz and chamber influences.
Featuring mostly original compositions, the album reflects on themes of hope, innocence, struggle, and resilience through vivid storytelling and rich musical textures. The repertoire also includes evocative interpretations of classics such as “Alfonsina y el Mar” and “Garota de Ipanema,” placing Cuevas’s songwriting alongside beloved works of the Latin American and Brazilian song traditions.
Produced by bassist George Koller and recorded in Toronto, Vidas captures a sensitive and deeply human musical journey, marked by lyrical depth, subtle arrangements, and emotional authenticity.
